Steve Parelli and Jose Ortiz were in India, from the evening of August 15 until late Saturday, August 30, 2014.  Their first four days and five nights in India were vacation days spent in New Delhi and Agra.  The remainder of their time, from August 20 – 30, was spent doing Other Sheep work in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Kerala, India, film documentary to feature interview with Parelli and Ortiz

Queerala, an LGBT organization in Kerala, India, is creating a documentary on LGBT human rights in India. On August 23, 2014, Rev. Stephen Parelli and Jose Ortiz of Other Sheep were interviewed, for the documentary on the topics of religion and homosexuality, and gay marriage.

I was completely astonished. I had no idea. This unassuming quiet young attractive woman dressed in traditional Indian clothing was a TV journalist. All this time I had been telling my life story to a TV anchor woman.

Parelli and Ortiz teach queer studies for three days at a Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India, seminary

One pastor and seminarian wrote, “This is [a] new shift in my life to study on this subject since I am from a Baptist background, pastoring [now] in a leading church. I love it.”

This was a tremendous opportunity for Other Sheep. Seminarian students, some from areas of India where Christianity flourishes, would be exposed to a different Christian point-of-view on homosexuality for the first time in their lives.
