Executive Director Steve Parelli gave a ten minute PowerPoint presentation of the ministry of Other Sheep
- "Working Across Denominations and Faiths for Justice"
Other Sheep Coordinator for East Africa and MCC Clergy in Nairobi Rev. Michael Kimindu, speaking on a panel, gave a presentation of the work of Other Sheep and MCC in Kenya
- Other Sheep's logo on the book Dios nos ha hecho libres: Una relectura de los textos biblicos
referents a las relaciones entre personas del mismo sexo.
- This book, a translation from the English version The Children Are Free by Jeff Miner and John
Tyler Connoley was made available to the public having just come off the press.
- The translation was a joint project between Jesus MCC and Other Sheep
- Two Other Sheep personnel each received an award at the Awards Ceremony, Friday evening, July 2
- Rev. Michael Kimindu, Other Sheep Coordinator of East Africa and MCC Clergy of Nairobi
- Rev. Stephen Parelli, Other Sheep Executive Director
- Other Sheep photos as part of a plenary session, a PowerPoint presentation on the USA and global

III. Special meetings attended; General networking with both new and former contacts; and Comments; as it pertains to the Executive Director Rev. Steve Parelli
In addition to where the Executive Director is mentioned above: Special Meetings
- Steve attended the Monday evening Affinity Group "Clergy Ministry Candidates Serving in Approved
Ministries Outside MCC Congregations" and met Vicki Anderson who does ministry work for women in Uganda. Steve connected Vicki with Rev. Pat Dorst of the Other Sheep Task Force by email who has specifically expressed interest to working with women in East Africa.
- Steve attended, by invitation, the Tuesday morning special meeting called by Rev. Jeff Miner (which
was conduced in the suite of Elder Diane Fisher) regarding the printing of the book The Children Are Free in English in Africa. Rev. Michael Kimindu and a second pastor (name withheld), both of Nairobi, Kenya, were in attendance along with Rev. Paul Mokgethi and Dominic Kessel of South Africa. Rev. William Knight was also present who will, if funds permit, pastor an MCC church in South Africa. Rev. Jeff Miner asked Steve to receive quotes by way of those in Kenya and South Africa regarding printing costs. Steve agreed to do so saying he would work closely with Elder Diane. Elder Diane said Steve could use Jason O'Neill's services; Jason is her Confidential Executive Assistant.
- Steve attended and voted in the Tuesday afternoon MCC business meeting, sitting in the Clergy
House with MCCNY clergy.
- (Jose Ortiz arrived from New York City Tuesday evening around 5PM)
- Stan Kimer, Other Sheep Task Force consultant, met with and briefly, but significantly, addressed
Other Sheep personnel who lunched together on Wednesday, July 30, at the conference buffet site. The purpose and organizational lines of the new Other Sheep Task Force was discussed with Stan, as well as the procedure to follow between the Board of Directors, Coordinators, and the Executive Director on how to revisit, review and rewrite Other Sheep mission and vision statement.
- Steve and Jose, along with Micheal Kimindu, attended the Wednesday evening "Be A Gem" gathering
in which committee members (Steve was a committee member), donors, and the recipients of sponsored trips to the conference, met to hear the stories of the recipients. Rev. Nancy Wilson asked Steve to introduce Michael Kimindu who spoke to the group, as did all recipients. Steve and Jose met and exchanged contact information with many individuals from around the world.
- Steve and Jose along with Michael Kimindu (and a second pastor from Kenya, name withheld) met
with Melissa Bruce, Pastor Jeff Miner and others of the Jesus MCC, Indianapolis, church during the Friday evening buffet, to discuss the mission work of Other Sheep and MCC in Africa. Rev. William Knight was also in attendance. Michael Kimindu and the second Kenyan pastor, name withheld, addressed certain questions posed by Jesus MCC.
General networking with both new and former contacts:
- Steve touched base with each of the personnel of Other Sheep present at the Conference and
discussed with some various topics of concern and/or ideas, suggestions.
- Steve and Jose had a casual meeting with Bob Goss and his partner over drinks Thursday evening.
Bob Goss is a member of the Other Sheep Task Force.
- Steve and Jose opened their room to Rev. Kimindu and Pastor Nyaisa of Nairobi for the use of
Steve's laptop computer for checking email and for making Skype phone calls to Kenya.
- Steve and Jose gave Rev. Kimindu a camcorder, tripod, case, and wireless microphones; and books
for use with Other Sheep East Africa. The occasion of the giving of the camcorder resulted in Steve and Jose purchasing a Flip camcorder and retiring the older camcorder.
- Steve met on Saturday morning, by appointment, with R. Adam DeBaugh, Director of Chi Rho Press,
Inc., to discuss raising funds for the Nepal Translation Project. Adam expressed interest in being on the Other Sheep Task Force.
- Steve and Jose met, by appointment, on Friday afternoon, with Mark Banashak, who lived for two
years in Nepal, and was inquiring into how he might help with the Nepal Translation Project
- Steve met, while eating at the buffet site, Rev. Carol A. Lowe who expressed interest in networking, if
possible, with contacts she may have in India.
- Saturday afternoon, Jose met with and recorded Rev. Kimindu for YouTube. Rev. Kimindu spoke to
the ministry of Other Sheep and MCC in East Africa.
- Late Saturday afternoon, Steve met first with John Donor and then with John Donor and Michael
Kimindu to discuss the nature of the work of Other Sheep as a force for inter-denominational cooperation per world region as well as worldwide.
- Saturday evening, Steve and Jose met with Rev. Leigh Neighbour and his partner Denny Moran of
Australia and with Rev. William Knight on Condesa Beach.
- At some point in the week, Steve and Jose were interviewed and camcorded by Andy Farostek who
was making a film documentary of the conference
Comments:
- Much appreciation for John Doner and Jose Hermandez for their work in preparing and overseeing
the Other Sheep table; and to John for preparing the Other Sheep quarter page advertisement for the program book.
- Much appreciation for Rev. Nancy Wilson and MCC for granting us the ad and the exhibit table
without charge.
- Much appreciation to the "Be a Gem" committee and the donors who provided for Rev. Michael
Kimindu's expenses to and from the conference
- Much appreciation to Stan Kimer for giving Other Sheep a spot in each of the two workshops he
conducted
- Much appreciation to Rev. Thomas Bigelow for his sponsorship of the Buenos Aires priest, Rev.
Gregorio Tobar to the conference.
- Gratefulness to those at the conference who gave a total of $285.00 for the Nepal Translation Project
by individuals attending the conference.
- Adam DeBaugh committed himself to personal help in fund raising for the Nepal Translation Project
- Gratefulness for Jose Ortiz's Spanish language knowledge and his on-going inter-personal
relationships with the Latin American MCC and Other Sheep community and for his sacrifice of many, many hours of work with his practical, hands-on support.
- Much appreciation to Jesus MCC and Rev. Jeff Miner for their on going interest in mission and their
work with Other Sheep in translation and distribution of The Children are Free
- Special heart-felt thanks to Ines-Paul Baumann for the Wednesday morning worship message he
brought and to Rev. Dr. Patrick Cheng for the workshop he conducted.
- Much appreciation for Rev. Pat Bumgardner, my MCCNY pastor and fellow laborer in global justice
with whom I enjoy mutual respect in global justice work and who constantly shows care and concern for the ministry of Other Sheep.
