  1. Lead a  group meeting on the intersecting of religion and homophobia with 17
    members of the LGBT activist organization United and Strong
  2. Day-seminar with clergy and lay leaders on what the Bible does and does not say
    about homosexuality
  3. Day-seminar with civil and social workers on what the Bible does and does not say
    aobut homosexuality
  4. Media Coverage:  One live one-hour radio interview with Steve and Jose both
    speaking; two pre-recorded TV interviews; and one pre-recorded radio interview

  • Arrive by ferry from Marinique in St. Lucia at night; taxi to hotel Chez Mari in
    Gros Islet; Jose tops up cell phone and purchases food items (have a

  • With LGBT activist Kenita (director of United and Strong), our host and seminar
    sponsor, to her Anglican church; (1) meet her pastor and others following
    service; Kenita gives tour of town (the capital) on foot pointing out churches; visit
    at length with Kenita and her (2) personal friend who was/is a lesbian and
    “delivered” (but defines “deliverance” as on-going, not complete)
  • With Kenita to her home, meet her partner (3) Stacy (who works in media)
  • Monday, August 13
  • We work at our computers in hotel room (excellent wifi connection); (4) Steve
    writes and sends out eNews on Kenyan Anglican Bishop (report from Kimindu)
  • Evening –  (5) we meet with 17 members of the United and Strong group; go
    over “talking points;” give out copies of TCAF book; attendees share their
    stories about religion and being gay
  • Tuesday, August 14
  • (7) One-day clergy and lay-leader seminar – Jose read Nelson paper; Steve
    presented Powerpoint on Gen 19; Question and answers; Lunch; Discuss Gen.
    1 and 2; Seventh Day Adventist preacher spoke and gave opposite view point;
    TCAF books distributed as well as papers
  • Not counting Jose and Steve and two from Untied and Strong, 13 people were in
    attendance at some point in the day including two Catholics (one an American
    sister from Iowa who works at a Catholic institution at the south end of the
    island), two Pentecostal preachers, one Church of Christ lay leader, two
    evangelical lay leaders who left before it began
  • Wednesday, August 15
  • (8) One-day seminar with social/ civil workers – six people attended (not
    including Kenita, Steve and Jose); cover same material as with clergy seminar
    day before
  • Thursday, August 16
  • Morning, Media Coverage -
  • (9) Live one-hour radio interview on the program “What Makes Me Mad” –
    Steve and Jose both answer questions live posed by the radio show host
  • (10) Pre-recorded TV interview, same station as the above radio station
    (recorded after live radio interview)
  • (11) Pre-recorded TV interview with a second TV station
  • (12) Pre-recorded radio interview with a second radio station
  • Noon, Lunch with Stacy, Maria and Kenita
  • Evening, Public Meeting on “Ex-gay” -  
  • Jose and Steve both speak from the “ex-gay” paper
  • Not advertised well; few people attend
  • However, a TV station recorded the whole ex-gay seminar presentation
